white horizontal and vertical lines on the monitor flash in perfect synchronicity before a black background. accompanied by fragile electro beats, these abstractly reduced animations are complemented by superimposed miniature video loops which have been integrated into the overall synesthetic structure with equal perfection. epy´s music ranges from rhythmic electro sound patterns to experimental electro acoustic. especially noteworthy is the work method employed by this five-person collective of computer experts (klaus voltmer, nestor pridun, stefan holek, günter geiger and mahiyo kisanga): their audiovisual compositions are produced in realtime with a program they wrote themselves on the free computer operating system linux. over three years were required for development of this unique application on low-budget equipment, which permits simultaneous editing of both picture and sound by means of predefined algorithms. 0 texvertices was recorded at a live session, and stochastic factors were added, making their computer the virtual co-composer of this improvisation. the video is made outstanding by both the sophisticated production methods and its highly pointed minimalistic formal language. this excellent computer-assisted transcription (or interpretation) of sounds in animated images - and vice versa - has clear structures and forms a complete and harmonious unit.
