Eroticon sublim
In 1968, I wrote about the film: Eroticon is committed to the color of the material. At a time when film was treated purely as material from an analytical point of view, this meant, suggestively, that the uncut material could run through the projector in any direction, forwards and backwards, upside down and sideways. Today, I see things differently. The sublime quality of the film is found in the experience of seeing a monochrome surface that absorbs all sensory perception. It is not a physical surface like in Marc Rothko's paintings, but an incorporeal surface of light. A new copy from old stock makes this possible. Eroticon sublim is analog cinema. (Hans Scheugl 2025)
