18/68 Venice Destroyed

In 1968, Kren made Venecia kaputt, which lasts only six seconds, and utilizes scratching on film to erase an image of Venice.
(Malcolm Le Grice, "Abstract Film and Beyond", 1977)

Hans Scheugl: You used live images, which you then drew over.

Kren: There was already talk about Venice going down. And then there was this American war ship in the background. I had fun destroying that picture.

(Hans Scheugl: "Die Filme. Eine kommentierte Filmographie," in: (ed.) Scheugl Ex Underground Kurt Kren. Seine Filme, Vienna 1996)
