Soul Sisters Alice [Films in Progress]

A sensual portrait of Lassnig's friend Alice, an artist from Iceland. Alice's youth and spontaneity are particularly effective in the scene in which she sprays her naked body with red wine from an atomizer. The wine dripping from Alice's skin is combined with pulses of light and fireworks through double exposure, a captivating ecstatic spectacle in which Alice reviews the many men in her life. In Lassnig's words: "An absurd game, just as life is!" (Jocelyn Miller)

Rough cut by Maria Lassnig. Color correction and final cut completed posthumously in accordance with Lassnig’s original editing concept by Mara Mattuschka and Hans Werner Poschauko. Soundtrack composed of voice-over recording made by Maria Lassnig and George Frideric Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks from the artist’s own music collection.
