Hugo Max

Hugo Max (b. 2002) is an Austrian-British filmmaker, painter and musician. He performs live improvised soundtracks to silent films on solo viola, regularly appearing at London's Prince Charles Cinema and Picturehouse Cinemas, and has devised performances at the BFI Southbank, Austrian Filmmuseum and Locarno Film Festival. Max studied Fine Art at the Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford (2020-23) and Film at the Friedl Kubelka School for Independent Film (2024-25).
