Space Painting, Project Buchberg
This image as total environment was originally based on the idea of creating a psychedelic space (1977). Five years passed before I had the opportunity to paint the tower room of the Buchberg Castle in Austria from floor to ceiling the way I imagined it in step 70 of the series of images Displacements. I worked on it for a month, during the course of which I took photographs and recorded the stages of its preparation on S8 film. It is from this footage that I compiled it into the 16 mm film Space Painting, Buchberg Project in 1982/83. The “Space-quasi-Image” can still be seen today. (Dóra Maurer)
