Stadtkino Wien

The programme compiled by Mara Mattuschka presents a series of newly discovered and restored films by the artist Maria Lassnig made in the 1970s, including three world premieres. Restored by the Maria Lassnig Foundation in close collaboration with the Austrian Film Museum, these films - a synthesis of animation, sound and poetic voice-overs - facilitate access to the artist's inner world and are closely linked to her physical sensations. One focus of the programme is on the investigation and subversion of gender-specific motifs, including several male portraits of friendships and love relationships, which played an essential role in Lassnig's life.
